Yukiko Omura is the Chair of the GuarantCo Board and a Board Member of the Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). She is also the Non-Executive Director of the Boards of HSBC Bank PLC, Assured Guaranty LTD and Nishimoto HD Co. ltd. She was formerly the Under-Secretary General and COONice President at the International Fund for Agricultural Development and, prior to that, the Executive Vice President and CEO of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency of the World Bank Group.
Yukiko has more than 35 years of international professional experience in both the public and private financial sector. She started her career at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC as a Project Economist at the Infrastructure Department, then spent 10 years with JP Morgan in Tokyo, New York and London, after which she joined Lehman Brothers as Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets Asia, subsequently becoming the Head of Credit Business, Asia. She then went to UBS Japan as Managing Director and Head of Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department. Following a merger with SBC, she became the new Head of the merged Bank’s Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department but left to join her global partners at Dresdner Bank and became the new Managing Director and Head of Global Markets and Debt Office in Japan.
Board Director, Mauritius
Kamal Taposeea has over 30 years of professional experience in a broad range of sectors including law, financial services, financial regulation, airlines, tourism, energy and steel. He is also a Non-Executive Director of The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, another company of the Private Infrastructure Development Group. Before entering banking in 1985 with JP Morgan, Kamal trained as a barrister at the Inner Temple, London. He is a member of the Mauritius Bar.
Kamal’s previous appointments saw him serve as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of Mauritius; Non-Executive Chairman of Air Mauritius; General Manager (Investment Banking Group) of Al Rajhi Bank in Saudi Arabia; Regional Managing Director at Standard Bank Mauritius; Managing Director at Barclays Bank PLC Mauritius and Commercial Director of Cedel Bank.

Layth AI-Falaki was appointed to the GuarantCo Board in 2018, shortly after joining PIDG as Chief Risk Officer (CRO). He also sits on the Board of The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, as well as an attendee at the PIDG Ltd. Audit, Risk, Credit and HSES Committees. Layth joined PIDG from ICICI Bank UK, the European hub of India’s largest private sector bank, where he was also CRO responsible for credit, operational, market and liquidity risk as well as regulatory frameworks. Prior to this he was the CRO at the British Arab Commercial Bank, formerly part of the HSBC group.
He has had a long-standing career in banking and has in-depth experience of dealing in emerging markets, principally in Africa and Asia. During his banking career he undertook roles across a number of functions including compliance, audit, trade services, operations, marketing and correspondent banking. Layth has a bachelor’s degree in statistics and management science and a master’s degree in operational research from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Cyril Wong Sun Thiong is a Non-Executive Director on the Board of GuarantCo ltd. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund Ltd and a member of the Audit Committee of the Private Infrastructure Development Group Ltd. Cyril also has a portfolio of other directorships in blue chip companies including Barclays Bank Mauritius Ltd and Sanlam Africa Core Real Estate Investment Ltd. Cyril was a senior executive with Barclays Bank Mauritius Limited for more than 10 years. His other previous positions were as Finance Director of Esso Mauritius Limited and of British American Tobacco (Mauritius).
Cyril is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a Fellow of the Mauritius Institute of Directors.

Patrice Maveyraud started his career as a consultant with Bossard Consulting in Paris, then moved to banking where he spent over thirty years with the Paribas Group (later BNP Paribas). Initially working in control and financial management at Paribas Paris headquarters, he went on to commercial bank management in ten countries across four continents, from New York to Brunei Darussalam where he created the Baiduri Bank, Jakarta as President Director of Paribas-BSD Indonesia and Hong Kong as head of operational risk for Asia. In Africa, he was Executive Director of Paribas-Gabon (now BGFI Bank) and Figadim (leasing) and General Manager of BGFI Bank Congo.
Patrice holds a diploma of the French Business School HEC. He taught finance at the University Paris-Dauphine, the European Business School and various other organisations. He is a Director of GuarantCo’s sister company the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF).
