GuarantCo’s geographical reach is split into three regions: South & Southeast Asia (“Asia”), Sub-Saharan Africa (“SSA”) and Middle East, North Africa & Pakistan (“MENAP”). The Investment Team in each region is led by the Head of region or Managing Director (“MD”). The regional Heads of region or MD report into the Chief Investment Officer who is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Credit Director
The Credit Director would be responsible for managing the credit function within the risk management team at GuarantCo, with oversight of the Chief Risk Officer. The team has resources based out of London, Singapore and Nairobi. The main function of the risk management team is to ensure preservation of capital by acting as the “second line of defence” behind the investment team at GMC. The risk management team is responsible for the development of a portfolio which delivers on GuarantCo’s strategic intention of creating high Sustainable Development Impact (SDI) through local currency solutions, while minimising risks. The team is responsible for providing a constructive challenge to new business proposals, ensuring timely and ongoing monitoring of the existing credit portfolio and providing key risk inputs in determining strategic direction of the portfolio in various geographies where GuarantCo operates. The risk management team also works along with the finance function at GMC and the risk management team at PIDG to provide inputs on key risk models in the areas of ECL, PD and LGD which are used in business decisioning, portfolio monitoring and IFRS 9 accounting.

Credit Analyst
The Credit and Risk Team of GuarantCo operates from its offices in London, Nairobi, and Singapore, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer based in Singapore. The Team’s core responsibility involves overseeing and managing the credit analysis process for both pipeline and portfolio transactions and reviewing applications to be considered by the GMC Credit and Portfolio Committees. This includes independently assessing the creditworthiness of potential and existing clients, ensuring quality control of all credit applications, and suggesting structural improvements to enhance GuarantCo’s position within each transaction. Additionally, the Team is responsible for maintaining and implementing GuarantCo’s risk assessment frameworks, as well as presenting regular reports to the senior management of GuarantCo and PIDG regarding the portfolio’s credit quality.
